Wage Range that the Company Expects to Pay: $38.43 - $46.71 per hour

Position: Full time CPSP Registered Dietitian to coordinate the nutrition and gestational diabetic care plans including assessment, monitoring, education and counseling of prenatal patients in women's health.

Location: Santa Maria

Hours: 8-5pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities are performed in support of and in compliance with CQI plans, JCAHO, and other licensing, accrediting, and regulatory agencies.

Conducts nutrition assessments and obtains nutrition histories from patients.

Follows California State program guidelines for Comprehensive Perinatal Program Services (CPSP).

Consults with physicians and other health care personnel to determine patient's nutritional needs and diet restrictions.

Formulates menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical condition of patients, and integrates patients' menus with basic institutional menus.

Develops and implements plan of care based on assessment of nutritional needs and available sources, and coordinates plan with other healthcare providers.

Instructs patients about meal plan and dietary changes, and establishes self-management goals and objectives to help meet the plan.

Evaluates nutritional care and provides follow-up continuity of care.

Documents nutrition care plans and information in patient electronic medical records.

Instructs patients in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection and preparation.

Teaches nutrition and diet therapy to other ancillary staff.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served (adolescents and adults).

Demonstrates knowledge of domestic violence, child and dependent abuse protocols.

Demonstrates and ensures adherence to and observes all safety policies and procedures, inclusive of infection control rules and regulations.

Maintains and adheres to confidentiality, privileged communications (patient, employee, and corporation).

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor degree in Nutrition or related field required. Must have RD registration or be eligible for registration. Registration must be achieved within 90 days of hire. Certified as a Diabetes Educator is helpful.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) ability to read, write and speak Spanish is helpful.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration

Certified Diabetic Educator certificate, preferred. Possession of current, valid, California Driver's license, CPR (BLS-C) card required. Annual health exam and TB skin test, required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Must be willing to have a flexible work schedule and travel to other clinic sites on an as needed basis.
